This cyborg is a priest of the Machine God - part of the Cult Mechanicus in service of the Emporer, known as the Adeptus Mechanicus in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. He tends to the needs of the Machine Spirits on the battlefield (basically, he looks after tanks) and helps nurse them and thier carriers back to full working order. He carries around spanners and aspergillum, as his work is as much clerical and holy as it is engineering.
The figure is the Imperial Guard Techpriest Enginseer sculpted by the team at Citadel miniatures, but converted by me. The backpack sensors are from the Tau battlesuit sprue and an Airfix UH1H - Huey 1:72 scale rocket pod, the smaller arial being from the Tau Fire Warrior sprue. The bendier of the two mechandrite (bionic backpack tools) with the light on the end is made from the fencing on the Chaos Vehicle sprue with the Techpriest speaker on it converted and painted to look like a lamp. Painted with Humbrol Enamel paints.
Thanks very much. I've since repainted him in the Adeptus Mechanicus dark red using acrylics for my slowly growing Adeptus Mechanicus army, using Witchhunter rules; but I kept the hood pretty much the same, including the pseudo-Latinate writing on it.
My AdMech units are covered in loads of bits. I've got Bretonnian, Tau, Necron, Empire, Zombie, Ogre, Ork, Chaos (WFB), Eldar, High Elves, Space Marine, Skeletons and lots of Guard bits. It's a pretty frenetic use of a bits box; but it makes for interesting conversions. I've custom-made a Techpriest Magos, similar to the one I drew, using a SM Commander box set and lots of guitar wire and greenstuff.
Thanks. The sculpt of the techpriest models is so lovely to paint. But, the metals I used here - Humbrol Enamels - I think don't look v.v.v. metallic, and so I repainted him. When I get home and get access to a digital camera, I'll try taking a new photo.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
