The willows brought a song to my ear
Their leaves plucked by gentle zephyr
Embers in the hearth dance to the tune
The sparks land as cast down runes
Em'rald eyes drew my tired gaze
And she appeared, beautiful in the flames
Standing nude but for her hair; a shawl
Of autumn leaves frozen mid-fall
Her breath was the freshness of the seas
And she sung, the wind her tender plea
She finished her song, I awoke
The trees still, the wind no longer spoke
I tried to sing the words out loud
But air passed lips without a sound
The sun's dappled light burned my eyes
Her warm darkness gone to the daytime skies
So I strode along corridors of pine
To see her beauty one last time
I left my home, rode far from the glen
On a windswept tor I heard her song again
The tune fell to the drone of sleet
A tear fell from bruised eyes to broken feet
My journey had made me old and lame
Faltered steps, but stepping the same
I came to a beach and fell to the waves
For an moment, I saw a hundred men's graves;
Til I was mesmerised by the lone oak tree,
Dancing in the wind and singing of the sea
It's red leaves rustle with sweet hymn
Begging me step further and swim
